       From September 12 to September 17, a four-member team consisting of Prof. Chris Potts, Prof. Joerg Fliege, Dr. Houduo Qi, and Dr. Stefanie Biedermann from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, visited the School of Science. The purpose of this visit was to discuss the details of cooperation in graduate programs and make academic exchanges in Mathematics between two universities.  

In the morning of 12th September, Prof. Feng Qibo, dean of the School of Science, Prof. He Jinsheng, vice dean of the School of Science, Prof. Xiu Naihua, vice dean of the School of Science, and Mrs. Deng Xinhua, the Deputy Director of the International Department, met with the representatives and exchanged opinions. At first, Prof. Feng on behalf of the School of Science extended his warm welcome to the visitors and briefed the history, research, and programs in the School of Science. The professors from the University of Southampton introduced their mathematics programs and statistics programs. The two parties also discussed the specific issues on selecting graduate students to study in the University of Southampton. The two sides will start the cooperation on graduate program, joint training, and academic research field as soon as possible. Prof. Feng also expressed our appreciation on the program course design, practice teaching, and training links with industry of the University of Southampton.

On September 12 -17, Professor Chris Potts’ team carried  out several academic exchange activities with the professors and students  from our department of mathematics.
